Performance

I played tenor saxophone and the Montgomery County All-County Symphonic Band in 1997 and in the award-winning Walt Whitman High School Jazz Band from 1998-2000.

At Carleton College I played in the jazz ensemble and with a number of area rock bands, including Down Lo and my own project, Don Q and the Chosen Few. From 2005-2006 I lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota and played throughout the city with my jazz-rock fusion combo, the cheekily named Apollo’s Creed :)

At the Berklee College of Music, I played in a number of ensembles, including small jazz and contemporary, Cuban Styles, Argentinian and Chilean styles, Afrobeat, Motown, the music of Bob Marley, the music of John Scofield and Soulive, African drum and dance, and Dave Fiuczynski’s 21st Century Groove Band. Since attending Berklee I’ve had the privilege of playing with hundreds of skilled New England bands and musicians! I played and toured for three and half years with the indomitable punk funk band Goosepimp Orchestra, and have performed throughout the area with my own electronic music duo, Pellz Bellz.

I’ve played as a guest or on a regular basis with numerous other original groups in an array of different styles, including the Grass Gypsys, the Gary Backstrom Band, the Doctors Fox, the Todd Rundgren tribute band Road to Utopia, Danny Pease and the Regulators, Rebel Alliance, The Alchemystics, the Mystical Misfits, the Party Band, the Hornitz, Lovewhip, Erin Harpe and the Delta Swingers, Elephant Wrecking Ball, Troll 2, LeSpecial, Toussaint, the now Chicago-based children’s band Animal Farm, and many more.

I’ve also performed as a member of the wedding band As You Like It, for the event company Pure Energy Entertainment, and as a member of area marching band the Windjammers. These bands and organizations are all great and I encourage you to check them out :) My girlfriend and I also perform acoustically as the Edgy Friends, Londonderry, Vermont’s most in-demand campfire and 4th of July party singalong hosts! Finally, you can sometimes find me playing at residencies and jam sessions in Boston at the Cantab Lounge in Cambridge and the Midway Cafe in Jamaica Plain.

Update: As of June 2022, I’ve been playing with the incomparably amazing Diamond Blues, a Jerry Garcia Band tribute based in Boston.

Be sure to check them out!

Production

I was a founding member of the children’s band Animal Farm, and helped write and record many of the band’s initial songs. it was a terrific experience and my first recording on guitar and banjo!

As a member of Goosepimp Orchestra I helped write songs and recorded saxophone and flute on the band’s third album (check out the song below for an example of both). Also great!

And in 2014, my friend and collaborator Adam Pelletier and I formed the production duo Pellz Bellz and released this eclectic electronic extravaganza:

I’ve also recorded an album’s worth of my own electro-sax music that I’ll be releasing as soon as I work up the nerve! Stay tuned for details :)
